Wells for residences and livestock are drilled with our straight rotary rig. The local geology determines exactly which drilling fluid we use during drilling. In areas of high bedrock or lost circulation zones, we use a straight rotary rig equipped with an air compressor to complete the well without issue. We drill a test hole prior to completing these wells. The test hole gives us accurate information as to what type and slot size screen to install and where, and whether or not there is enough water at all for the project. Once we find water, we ream that test hole out to the appropriate size for the casing to be installed. Well casing for these wells is PVC, and the screens are either PVC or Stainless Steel.
Depending on the clients’ needs, the diameter of casing will be either 4”, 5”, or 6”. Rarely do we install 8” cased wells for homes or livestock. All wells have the appropriate sized gravel pack, determined from the test hole, to prevent the well from producing sand. We have the capability of completing these wells in excess of 1000’ in depth.
