Well Rehab and Development Services

Wells are a major investment, and you want to get the most of it. To make your well as efficient as possible, the well must be properly developed. Development in the water well world means removing any remnant drilling mud or fines from the well gravel pack and the borehole/aquifer interface. During well construction, drilling mud always enters the aquifer to a degree. This mud must be removed or it will forever impede the flow of water into the well. For domestic and livestock wells, we include air development in our drilling price. For irrigation and industrial, development methods have to be more aggressive, and therefore are an additional expense which almost always results in major energy savings during the life of the well.
The most aggressive development technique we use is called high-velocity jetting. This method is employed by injecting chlorinated water under 1000 psi through a nozzled jetting tool while a pump is installed above the tool to remove fines brought into the well. This tool spins and is moved up and down across the screened area. The pressurized water dislodges any fines which can be pumped out of the well, while creating a sorting effect leaving the coarsest material against the well screen to create an even more efficient well.

Well Rehabilitation: How Does It Work?

When it comes to issues with an existing well, the most important piece of information is knowing the root of the problem. Rieschick Drilling Co. can perform a complete high-quality video inspection of your well (see below!). Many times drillers are quick to tell an owner they need a new well if they have well problems, while it may be more economical to rehab the existing well to get the same result. The down-hole video shows us the best methods to rehab your well, whether mechanical or chemical means, or a combination of both are required. The tooling includes, brushes, surge blocks, and even high-velocity jetting as mentioned above if necessary. We have all necessary equipment and material to bring your old well back to its’ full potential.

Relief Well Inspection & Rehabilitation

Odds are good that if you are a levee or drainage district sponsor, or manager of a large dam you have relief wells incorporated into your infrastructure. Relief wells are vital to the longevity and performance of these earthen structures. We have the experience, equipment, and personnel to properly inspect, test, rehab, replace, and abandon relief wells per the United States Army Corps of Engineers Standard Operating Procedures. Attention to detail is critical when performing all tasks related to relief wells. Andrew Rieschick, P.E. manages our relief well projects. Contact him to learn more about our services!
